Stop electricity bill, electricity will be expensive: Mamata's letter to Modi

Mamata opposed the Centre's bill

Service providers will arbitrarily charge electricity prices, thus affecting the citizens

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi opposing the Centre's electricity bill. And has also demanded that the bill not be re-introduced in Parliament. He also called the bill anti-people.

In a letter to Modi, Mamata claimed that if the central government implemented the bill, it would make electricity more expensive for the people. "I am annoyed to hear that the central government is going to bring back the anti-people bill without considering our problems," she alleged.

Mamata alleged that if the bill was passed, service providers would raise tariffs and electricity would become very expensive. "We have protested against the same bill when it was introduced earlier and we will oppose it again when the government is going to introduce the bill," she said.

Farmers also oppose Centre's electricity bill: Farmers pass resolution in Parliament

New Delhi: Not only Mamata Banerjee but also farmers are protesting against the Centre's electricity bill. The farmers had passed a resolution in the ongoing Kisan Parliament in Delhi opposing the Centre's electricity bill. Farmer leaders say that every class has a fundamental right to electricity.

The bill will also bring small businesses like dairy and flour mills under the tax net and benefit private power companies. Mamata Banerjee had earlier opposed the same bill in 2020, calling it an anti-citizens bill.
