NIA raids at 56 Jamaat-e-Islami locations aiding terrorists


Investigation in 10 districts of NIA in Jammu and Kashmir

In February 2019, the Center banned the organization for five years, with several members detained.

Srinagar: As many as 56 Jamaat-e-Islami operatives were raided by the NIA in Jammu and Kashmir. The raids came two years after the ban was imposed by the central government. The NIA is investigating the terrorist funding of the organization in respect of which this investigation was carried out.

On Sunday, the NIA, police and the CRPF jointly conducted several raids in Jammu and Kashmir. Numerous pieces of evidence were also found during the raids, which were carried out in about 56 places in 10 districts. In particular, various offices and offices of Jamaat-e-Islami were further investigated.

Important documents have also been seized during the investigation. In February 2019, the central government banned Jamaat-e-Islami for five years for engaging in terrorist activities. The decision to ban was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Several members of the Jamaat were raided and arrested after the ban.

The NIA, on the other hand, carried out raids in Bengaluru in a case of human trafficking. The raids were carried out by a person who helped in making forged documents and icards etc. for Bangladeshi smugglers and necessary evidence was collected. Six digital devices, including mobile phones, were also seized. Earlier, a case was registered against 13 people in Bengaluru over the entire case.
