Low pressure system active in Bay of Bengal, heavy rainfall forecast in South Gujarat

New Delhi, 31st August 2021, Tuesday

The low pressure system activated in the Bay of Bengal is moving towards the northwest and heavy rains are forecast in Gujarat from September 1 to 3.

According to meteorologists, Central India is currently under pressure and the low pressure system is likely to bring heavy rains to South Gujarat, including Surat, in the next two days.

It may be mentioned that Gujarat has received very little rainfall as compared to the average of last 30 years. The condition of North Gujarat and Kutch is very bad. The North Gujarat dam has 23.97 per cent water and the Kutch dam has 21 per cent water.

In Saurashtra, only two of the 141 dams are full. Sardar Sarovar Dam, the lifeline of Gujarat, has only 45.51 per cent water.

Due to low rainfall in August, Gujarat is currently experiencing less drought.
