Karnataka High Court issues notice to Yeddyurappa and his son in corruption case

New Delhi: Despite stepping down as Karnataka's chief minister, former chief minister Yeddyurappa's troubles have not abated. Notices have been issued to former state CM BS Yeddyurappa and his son BY Vijayendra and others in a corruption case. All of them have been asked to appear in the High Court on August 15 at 10.30 am. BY Vijayendra is still the BJP vice-president in the state. The court issued the order at the hearing of activist T J Abraham.

Karnataka High Court has struck down former state chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has issued notices against his son, his family members, former minister TS Somashekhar and an official of the Indian Administrative Service. An earlier order issued by the special court eight years ago had rejected an application seeking permission to prosecute then Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and then Minister Somashekhar.

The petitioner then challenged the judgment of the special court in the High Court. The High Court has issued this notice on him. The case involves getting a bribe in a housing scheme of the Bangalore Development Authority. It is alleged that the bribe was solicited and paid by a fake company in Kolkata. This included Yeddyurappa and his relatives. The case is being investigated from time to time. The issue was discussed in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly at the time. Opposition leader Siddaramaiah at the time issued a notice of no-confidence motion and leveled serious allegations. Both, however, denied the allegations against them.
