Indians to hoist flag at New York's Times Square on August 15


A 25-foot high tricolor will be flown

The Times Square building will also be illuminated with tricolor lights

New Delhi: Indians living in the United States are all set to celebrate India's 75th Independence Day this time around. For this, the tallest flag ever to be flown in New York's Times Square. Preparations for this have also started.

Citizens of Indian descent in the United States still celebrate Independence Day every year. But this time the tallest tricolor ever will be flown in Times Square. The tricolor will be hoisted on a 25 feet high pole. It will be ten feet long and six feet wide. The tricolor will be unfurled at the hands of the US Consulate General in India.

An organization called Federation of Indian Associations has organized various programs throughout the day on the occasion of Independence Day. At the same time, New York's famous Empire State Building will be illuminated in tricolor.

A billboard with First India written on it will be displayed at Times Square for 24 hours. There will also be a gala cruise on the Hudson River during the evening. It will be attended by top government officials, special invitees and members of the Indian American community.
