Guwahati: The border dispute between Assam and Mizoram has resurfaced. Four trucks from Mizoram in Assam have been vandalized in the wake of which the situation has become tense again and border security has been beefed up.

The trucks were loaded with eggs and were heading from Karimganj to Mizoram. The truck was stopped by some people when it reached Baga Bazaar area of ​​Catcher district in Assam.

The truck driver was later questioned, when the drivers said they were heading towards Mizoram, the mob started vandalizing the trucks and threw the eggs on the road. However, the police later reached the spot and managed to control the situation and disperse the crowd.

Seven Assam security personnel have been killed in clashes between the two states. While the controversy had recently calmed down, the situation could have worsened after the truck was vandalized. Mizoram, on the other hand, is facing severe shortages of fuels like petrol and diesel amid disputes with Assam.

Mizoram's Food and Civil Supplies Department said the state was facing severe fuel shortages. The fuel comes from Assam to Mizoram. In view of the situation, the Mizoram administration has issued an advisory to petrol pump owners and ordered that non-essential stocks be stopped.
