Fearful situation due to rains and floods: 3 lakh people affected in Bengal, alert in 23 districts of MP

The situation is dire due to floods in different parts of the country. Landslides are occurring in mountainous areas along with rains, while floods in plain areas have worsened the situation.

As many as 3 lakh people have been affected by the floods in some parts of West Bengal, even though the rainfall has receded but the situation is still dangerous.

The floods have affected three lakh people in seven districts of West Bengal and so far 23 people have died. According to the official, the situation is still critical and those who are trapped are constantly being supplied with drinking water and other necessities.

According to officials, about 4 lakh hectares of farmland are under water at the moment due to the floods. East and West Vardhman, West Medinipur, Hooghly, Howrah, South 24 Parganas and Virbhum districts of West Bengal are currently most affected. Water is also being continuously released from the dam to control the situation in Bengal.

Impact of floods in 23 districts of Madhya Pradesh

Apart from West Bengal, the situation has also deteriorated in Madhya Pradesh due to floods. According to the weather department, 23 districts in Madhya Pradesh are on heavy rain alert. Rains have caused floods in some districts of Gwalior and Chambal area.
