Demand to stop looting of apple farmers by corporate companies in Himachal

Shimla, 26 August 2021 Thursday

Purchasing apples from Himachal Pradesh at low prices will bring the Himachal Pradesh Congress to the forefront against some of the corporate companies that are pushing farmers here into losses.

Kuldeep Rathore, chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, told reporters here that Adani Agrifresh had slashed the prices of apples from here, which had a negative impact on the state's Rs 2,000 crore apple market.

He called on the government to provide protection to the Adani group against the blatant looting of apple growers in the state.

In addition to Korona, unseasonal rains and hailstorms in May have caused severe damage to farmers. Fruit prices have now bottomed out. The Congress cannot be a silent spectator against the blatant plunder of the farmers of the state. An agitation will be started against it.

The state Congress president also alleged collusion with the government, apple traders and commission agents. The price of apples has been deliberately lowered so that corporates can get rich. The government is providing full protection to Ambani and Adani corporates in looting farmers, added Kuldeep Singh Rathore.
