MUMBAI: Bitcoin prices in the global cryptocurrency market today plunged nearly four per cent from a two-month high. However, while large cap bitcoins were falling, prices of medium cap ether and small cap XRP were seen rising.

Bitcoin today turned out to be a lucrative sell-off amid overbought conditions. The decline in the global dollar index against various major currencies also had an impact on the market. Bitcoin prices fell from a high of 15 41,531 to 15 41,532 today to a low of 9 38,978 to 9 38,979 from 7 39,716 to 7 39,717.

Bitcoin prices plunged nearly ઢ 2,500 from a high today and fell below the 100-day moving average. Bitcoin's total market capitalization fell from 7 780 billion to 7 745 billion to 6 746 billion today, market analysts said.

Bitcoin's trading volume fell from થી 35 billion to 36 36 billion to 31 31 billion to 32 32 billion, with new buying falling sharply. Bitcoin prices have risen nearly 30 per cent since July 20, according to market sources. The market players were keeping an eye on the job growth figures in the US now.

Meanwhile, midcap ether prices were higher today. There was also talk in the market that Bitcoin was sold and bought in Ether. Ether prices ranged from 24 2,474 to 48 2,448 today, from 26 2,698 to 99 2,699 to 29 2,629 to 30 2,630. At one point below, prices ranged from 11 2,511 to 12 2,512.

With rising prices in ether, the market cap jumped from 28 286 billion to 7 287 billion today to 300 307 billion to 8 308 billion. Small cap XRP prices today ranged from 70 to 71 cents lower and 77 to 78 cents higher to 75 to 76 cents. The XRP traded at 3. 3.70 billion to 75 3.75 billion today and its market cap rose from 74 74 to 75 75 to 76 76 billion, market sources said.
