The central government will introduce an important bill in the Lok Sabha today, Monday. A Constitution Amendment Bill empowering the states to prepare lists associated with the OBC community will be introduced in the Lok Sabha. It was recently sealed by the Union Cabinet.

Article 342 A (3) will be implemented by the 127th Constitution Amendment Bill which will give the state governments the right to make their own list of OBCs. States will not have to depend on the Center for this after the revised bill is passed.

Recently, the Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sealed the Constitution Amendment Bill. The bill will be passed into law after it is passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

The bill is coming after the Supreme Court's comment

In fact the Supreme Court made a comment in May. It said that only the Center has the right to compile a list involving the OBC community. Disaster was declared in this regard by the Central and State Governments. Then the central government now wants to bring the Constitution Amendment Bill into law.

Assembly elections are to be held in Uttar Pradesh next year where the election of the OBC community has a huge impact on mathematics. The Centre's decision is also seen as a step to woo the OBC community. The Center had recently reserved seats for the OBC community and the economically backward in the reserve seats of medical education.
