Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal invited all the leaders of the opposition forces to dinner. All eyes were on Sibal's dinner, which was held without the presence of the Gandhi family. Sibal is one of the leaders of G-23 who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi. It is learned that the dinner, hosted by Kapil Sibal, also discussed the resurgence of the Congress.

At Kapil Sibal's dinner, several leaders expressed their views that the Congress party was present in many states of the country. In these circumstances Congress desperately needs to revive. The leaders reportedly expressed concern over the current state of the country's oldest political party, the Congress. At Sibal's dinner, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Narej Gujral said, "If the Congress is to be strong, it has to be free from one family."

No leader present reacted to Naresh Gujral's remarks. Kapil Sibal, the leader of the G-23 group of Congress, hosted a dinner party on his birthday which was attended by several veteran leaders of the opposition. It was attended by NCP President Sharad Pawar, Sharad Yadav, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, SP president Akhilesh Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, Sanjay Raut, Derek O'Brien and several leaders of the opposition.

Meanwhile, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Bhupendra Hooda, Anand Sharma, Manish Tiwari, Shashi Tharoor and Sandeep Dixit of the G-23 group of the Congress were also present. During the dinner, Sibal stressed the need for a strong front against the BJP. Sharad Pawar also agreed. The dinner was held at a time when Rahul Gandhi is on a tour of Jammu and Kashmir and Priyanka Gandhi is on a tour abroad.
