During the monsoon session of Parliament, Union Home Minister Nityanand Rai on behalf of the government said that at present the government has no plans to implement the NRC at the national level. This information was given by Nityanand Rai in response to a question posed by MP Nilikh Khadse.

Khadse questioned whether the government would propose a separate NRC to prepare data on Scheduled Tribes. In his reply, Rai said that no decision has been taken in this regard.

He said so far no data was available at the central level on refugees living illegally in the country. Rohingya refugees are also reported to have infiltrated the country's borders.

Earlier, former RSS president Mohan Bhagwat had said that the CAA and the NRC had no religious affiliation. He also criticized the opposition. He said the opposition was pursuing its own political advantage on the CAA and NRC issue. He further said that no Muslim in the country would be harmed after the implementation of this law.

This law is only for those who are using the resources of the country illegally.
