Will the 'two children policy' be implemented across the country like in UP and Assam? The Modi government replied

Among the laws enacted for population control in BJP-ruled states like Assam and Uttar Pradesh, the big question is whether the central government will implement such a policy across the country. The Modi government has given its answer in Parliament. Replying to a question by a BJP MP in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Health Bharti Praveen Pawar on Friday said no such proposal was under consideration.

Replying to a question from BJP MP Uday Pratap, the minister said, "International experience shows that for a certain number of children, any kind of coercion or order has the opposite effect." This leads to demographic disorders, including premature abortion of sons, abandonment of daughters, and female feticide. In a written reply, he said, "Ultimately, it upsets the gender balance."
