New Delhi, July 11, 2021

With the Taliban regaining control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops, India has now withdrawn 50 of its Kandahar-based diplomats and security personnel.

The plane left for New Delhi on Saturday. Although local staff are still at the Indian office, the consulate has been closed indefinitely. The decision to recall Indian diplomats from Kandahar came after a statement from the External Affairs Ministry, the ministry said. That embassy is not closed.

However, Indian diplomats were recalled just two days after the statement.

According to a report, the Pakistani army has a large presence of Toiba militants in Kandahar and southern provinces of Afghanistan. As a result, it has been decided to withdraw Indian personnel and security personnel from here.
