The reactivating southwest monsoon from Saturday will soak Gujarat in heavy rains

The southwest monsoon, which has been reactivating since Saturday, will be accompanied by strong winds from the east, affecting Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Indian Meteorological Department said low-intensity easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, along with fires, have been blowing, creating favorable conditions for the monsoon to continue.

The meteorological department has forecast heavy rains in southwest monsoon from Saturday in several states and union territories, including Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In addition to the southwestern part, the west-central Arabian Sea, northeastern Arabian Sea as well as coastal and opposite parts of Gujarat, Lakshadweep area, coastal and opposite parts of Kerala and Karnataka, Bay of South Bengal etc. will be 40-50 kmph to 60 kmph. , Said the meteorological department.

The meteorological department has forecast heavy rains with red alert notices in Kannur and Kamaragod districts of Kerala, while orange alerts have been issued in Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur, while in Thiruvananthapuram Kollam and Pathanampitti.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to receive showers with heavy thunderstorms, according to the meteorological agency bulletin.

Light rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Delhi on Saturday. The minimum temperature in the capital will be 24.1 degrees Celsius while the maximum will be 38.2 degrees Celsius.

West Rajasthan will also get winds of 40 to 50 kmph while thundershowers and dust storms will prevail.

The meteorological department has issued orange alerts in the Konkan region - Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Siddhurg. Scattered places are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains for three days from July 11.
