Kathmandu: In a landmark judgment, Nepal's Supreme Court has ordered President Bidya Devi Bhandari to appoint Nepali Congress chief Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister by Tuesday. The Supreme Court has ordered the reinstatement of Parliament for the second time in five months.

A five-member constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana said in its judgment that the decision taken by President Bhandari to dissolve Parliament on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was unconstitutional.

Today's ruling by the Supreme Court has come as a shock to the notorious communist leader. The bench has directed the President to make Deuba the Prime Minister by Tuesday. Deuba has been Nepal's prime minister four times.

Deuba served as Nepal's prime minister for the first time from 1995 to 1997, the second time from 2001 to 2002, the third time from 2004 to 2005 and the fourth time from 2017 to 2018.
