Petition filed in court for treason case against Mehbooba Mufti

Despite decades of terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, former chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's love for Pakistan has not diminished. An application has been filed in the Muzaffarpur court to prosecute Mehbooba for his recent statement in favor of Pakistan. On the other hand, Mehbooba Mufti, while maintaining her stance against the security forces, has questioned the death of a terrorist in an encounter in Kulgam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called a meeting with 12 leaders of eight local parties to ratify democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. Prior to the meeting, Mehbooba Mufti had advised the Center to reintroduce Article 30 in Jammu and Kashmir and hold talks with Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. An application has been filed in the Muffarpur court seeking a treason case against Mehbooba Mufti in protest of her statement. A hearing will be held on July 9 regarding the petition of social worker Acharya Chandrakishore Parashar. The petition accuses the former chief minister of hurting people's feelings. The petition claims that Mehbooba Mufti's statement has re-encouraged cross-border terrorism.

In Jammu and Kashmir, on the other hand, the security forces have been conducting counter-terrorism operations and clearing the area of terrorists. At such a time, Mehbooba Mufti has questioned a terrorist killed in the Kulgam encounter. The parents of the 19-year-old minor who was killed in the Kulgam encounter claimed that he was an innocent citizen, the Mufti said. The Government of India should disclose these allegations. Three Toiba-related militants were killed in a clash in Kulgam.
