Pegasus will question parliamentary panel officials on the espionage issue

A parliamentary committee on IT headed by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is likely to question top officials, including the home ministry, after revelations of phone tapping of several people using Pegasus spy software. The International Media Consortium claimed that the phone numbers of Rahul Gandhi, two Union Ministers and Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee and 30 other journalists in India were among the possible targets for hacking through Israeli spyware. Jose, the Government of India and the NSO group denied the allegations of Pegasus spyware. The six-member parliamentary committee on information and technology is expected to meet on July 9. The agenda of this meeting is data security and privacy of citizens. The ruling BJP has the largest number of members on the panel. He may issue summons to the officials of the Ministry of Electronics, Information and Technology and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
