New Belgian woman dies after being infected with two variants of Corona

Alst (Belgium), Sunday 11 July 2021

This was the first case of its kind in Belgium with a variant of the corona virus. A 90-year-old woman here died after being infected with not one, but two different variants of the Corona. Investigation revealed that the woman was infected with both Alpha and Beta-M variants of Corona. This case has raised concerns among researchers.

The old woman had been living alone at home for a long time. He did not get the anti-coronary vaccine. Her condition worsened and she was admitted to the OLV Hospital in Alst City.

Initially the patient-elderly oxygen level remained appropriate. However, her condition worsened and she died within five days.

Experts began investigating the woman's corona report and found that the old woman also had an alpha strain of corona in her body, which was first seen in Britain. Not only that, the old woman's body also contained a beta variant that was first seen in South Africa.

Anne Wenkerberg, the hospital's molecular biologist and head of the research team, said both variants were spreading in Belgium when the woman became infected. This raises the suspicion that the woman may have received different variants from the two. However, it is not yet known how the infection was transmitted. Attempts are being made to find out how many people the woman currently met and who came to meet her at home.

In January of the same year, Brazilian scientists also said that two people in their country had been infected with different variants of the corona. However, the case has not been confirmed yet. And no journal has published anything about it. Experts say more research is needed to find out.
