Mukarmycosis: 45,432 cases, 4252 deaths in the country so far


Coronas accounted for 84% of patients with mucomycosis

As on July 15, 45,432 cases of mucorrhoea have been reported in the country. Out of which 21,085 people are undergoing treatment and 4252 people have died, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandvia said in a written reply to a question that most of the patients with mucomyosis (84.4 per cent) were corona patients.

Notably, the second wave of corona saw an increase in cases of mucorrhoea. The central government had asked the states to send the number of cases of mucorrhoea to the Covid-19 India portal.

Due to which the central government can analyze this data and issue necessary directions to the states. A drug called amphotericin-B is used to treat this disease. The drug is available in two formulas liposomal amphotericin B and amphotericin B dexicolate.
