The mountainous region at Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir was hit by floods in the Machail sector before the cloud burst. Fortunately Machail's journey was blocked so that he could escape a major disaster. The floods have washed away 5 bridges over sea channels. This has cut off the internal connection between the villages. Electricity has also been cut off in the area.

More than 300 people are still trapped in different places but it is a relief to be safe. According to the administration, the trapped people have adequate rations. At the same time, efforts are being made to bring the trapped people to their homes by creating an alternative contact route.

The catastrophe was caused by a cloudburst at 4:30 am on Wednesday in Honjad village of Dachchan. However, the Machail sector of Padar was hit by heavy floods late on Tuesday evening. As soon as the notification was received, the administrative teams, in collaboration with the police and locals, started shifting people to safer areas from Tuesday evening.

"As soon as the flood alert was received, people were shifted to safer places from Tuesday evening," said Varanjit Chaudhary, SDM, Machail sector. A team of police and locals was formed and it was ensured that no one stayed in the dangerous place.

320 people were kept in Gulabgarh

320 people have been kept in safe places in different areas of Gulabgarh. There are about 50 people present on the Machail Yatra route who are safe. A major tragedy has been averted as travel has been banned. Efforts are currently underway to provide alternative connectivity to the villages which may take some time.
