Indian Army's anti-terrorism division now deployed on Ladakh front against China

New Delhi, Saturday 24 July 2021

The Indian Army has deployed troops at the Line of Actual Control (LOC) in the eastern Ladakh region to show its readiness against Chinese forces a few months ago. The busy anti-terrorism division in the Northern Command area has been relocated to the Ladakh sector several months ago.

The division-size formation involves about 15000 soldiers. The movement of this formation has helped the army maintain the number of reserve forces for action along the northern borders. India has deployed about 50,000 troops in the eastern Ladakh region. This number is usually more than double the existing forces.

During the April-May period last year, the Chinese moved rapidly from the areas opposite eastern Ladakh and crossed the border in several places. The Indian government had deployed an equal number of its forces there to control them.
