Five militants, including a Pakistani, were killed in an encounter in Kashmir's Pulwama

Srinagar, Dt

After the central government held a meeting with 12 leaders of eight local parties to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir after the new delimitation, terrorists have suddenly raised their heads in the union territory and one terrorist incident after another is happening. Security forces killed five militants in a clash at Pulwama in Kashmir on Friday. Earlier last week, Pakistani drones infiltrated India late at night for three consecutive days, two of which were foiled by alert jawans.

Five militants, including the district commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba, were killed and one jawan was martyred in a clash between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Friday. Security forces cordoned off Hanjin village in Rajpora area of Pulwama and conducted an investigation after receiving information about the presence of terrorists. However, the forces also retaliated by firing openly at the security forces. One jawan was injured in the initial firing of the terrorists and died at the hospital.

However, more troops were dispatched to the spot following the terrorist firing. Five militants were killed in the clashes. Among the militants killed was Lashkar-e-Toiba district commander Nishaj Lone alias Khitab, Kashmir's IG Vijay Kumar said. He was the only Pakistani among the terrorists killed. The rest is being identified.

Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) spotted a drone in the Arnia sector of Jammu at around 4.5 am. A BSF spokesman said it had returned to the Pakistani border after BSF personnel fired on the drone. He added that the drone, which was spotted in the Arnia sector, had come to the area to spy. But he turned back when BSF alert men opened fire on him. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are on high alert following last week's drone strikes on an Air Force station at Jammu airport as well as Pakistani drones being spotted at Indian military bases at night for three consecutive days.

On the other hand, a drone entered the Indian embassy premises in Islamabad last week to spy. The foreign ministry has asked Pakistan to investigate the incident and warned it to be vigilant to prevent such incidents in the future. The Indian embassy has also lodged a complaint with the Pakistani authorities regarding the incident. Sources said that the drone tried to spy on an event taking place at the Indian embassy.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said a drone was spotted at the Indian embassy in Islamabad on June 9. The issue has been officially raised before the government of Pakistan. We expect Pakistan to look into the matter and ensure that such a breach of security does not happen again.
