Two Indian Army personnel have endangered the country's security for just Rs 92,000 and handed over 900 sensitive documents to Pakistan.
Security agencies as well as the Indian Army have lost sleep over the spying scandal. The Army has now rerouted all its operations and staff in Kargil.
Recently, Punjab police arrested two jawans, including Harpreet, who is serving in the National Light Rifles and Gurbhej Singh Sena's Sikh Light Infantry. He had obtained secret documents and sent them to Pakistan, for which he was paid Rs 92,000.
Gurbhej Singh was posted as a clerk in the Sikh Light Infantry. He usually stayed alone in the headquarters from three to five o'clock in the afternoon. In the days of reckoning, 900 such documents were sent to Pakistan. The documents contained information on the new Indian Army airbase being set up in Kargil as well as the training center for Indian Army personnel.
Gurbhej Singh first received Rs 50,000 for sending information about the Indian Army's preparations in Kargil to Pakistan. He then took out the files in the closet of the Army Headquarters and started posting photos of him and sending them to Harpreet.
According to military intelligence, 800 out of 900 documents are sensitive. Now the army is being forced to make many changes in Kargil. The route of the army has also been changed. An exercise is also underway to change the movement of drones. Large changes have also been made from the headquarters.
