Chief Justice intervenes in Pegasus issue: Demands of more than 200 people

More than 200 people and organizations have now joined the country's chief justice, N.V., in the Pegasus espionage controversy. Ramanna has written a letter asking for intervention. A letter has also been written to Chief Justice Raman to immediately stop the purchase of Pegasus spyware from the Israeli company NSO.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court N.S. V. Raman has written a letter to various media reports expressing concern over the news of the use of Pegasus spyware. The CJI was surprised to learn that Pegasus spyware was being used to spy on students, academics, journalists, human rights activists, lawyers and victims of sexual harassment.

Letters to the Supreme Court have also drawn CJI's attention to data security and privacy policy. The letter also cited the issue of alleged espionage by a court official who had accused the then Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi of sexual harassment. The letter includes lawyers like Aruna Roy, Anjali Bhardwaj, scholars like Harsh Mandar, Vrinda Grover, Zuma Sen.
