Captain's posters removed from Punjab Congress office overnight and Sidhu's

Chandigarh: With the appointment of Navjot Sidhu as party president by the Congress High Command, the look of the Punjab Congress office in Chandigarh has also started changing. The poster of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh used to be displayed here, now Sidhu's supporters have replaced it overnight and put up a poster of Sidhu there.

In Punjab, Sidhu has consistently taken an aggressive stance against Captain Amarinder. There had been talk for a long time that Sidhu would be made the state president, but the high command could not take any decision under the pressure of Captain Amarinder Singh. Even the old Congressmen were not in favor of giving Sidhu the post of state president, but the Congress high command ignored it and handed over the reins of the party to Sidhu. Thus the Congress took a different stance here than in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Perhaps he has learned a lesson from both.

However, four other acting chiefs have been appointed to keep Sidhu in check. Even when Sidhu left the BJP and joined the Congress, the captain was not in favor of bringing him into the Congress. In the first year, it went well between Sidhu and the captain. Sidhu gave the captain a place in his cabinet. Made him minister of the local unit. Amarinder Singh reshuffled the cabinet shortly after and handed over the power department to Sidhu. Sidhu did not agree to it and resigned from the cabinet.

Sidhu remained silent for a long time after resigning from the captain's cabinet. It was then that he suddenly became active earlier this year. He started targeting Captain Amarinder through the internet. After that, the captain's opposition group started making statements. The Congress High Command had to convene a meeting to quell the discontent in the party. Even so, Sidhu remained aggressive with the captain. After that, the High Command handed over the reins of the party to Sidhu. Now it will be interesting to see what chemistry remains between Sidhu and the captain in the coming election year.
