CAA violence: Supreme Court refuses to confiscate accused's assets

The Supreme Court has directed the UP government not to take any action on the notices issued by the UP government to seize the assets of the accused in the wake of several incidents of violence in UP during the anti-CA protests.

The apex court, however, said that the government could take legal action in the matter under the new rules. Supreme Court Justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah said that no action should be taken on the whole matter as per the earlier notice. All proceedings are conducted according to the new rules.

The CAA came up against incidents of violence during anti-demonstrations, in which the accused also inflicted heavy losses. Notice was given by the district administrations to compensate the loss from the accused. The revocation of the notice was sought in the Supreme Court by Pervez Arif Titu. In view of this, the Supreme Court has ordered not to take any action under this notice at present.
