The Special Cell of Delhi Police had busted an international drug racket. The entire racket was operated from Afghanistan. Police arrested four accused with 4 kg of drugs. Three accused were arrested from Faridabad in Haryana and one was nabbed from Delhi.
According to the police, a large quantity of drugs was reaching Mumbai by sea and coming from Mumbai to Delhi. Drugs were shipped from Iranian tea-out ports to Mumbai. A special unit was set up at Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh to improve the quality of drugs. The quantity then reached a rented house in Faridabad. From that place, the quantity of drugs was reaching everywhere including Haryana-Delhi-Punjab.
Delhi Police said that the special cell has started interrogation of the accused. Police have begun efforts to reach out to more people involved. The investigation is also being carried out from the angle of narco-terrorism. Police are investigating the matter on suspicion of having a Pakistani connection. As the entire racket runs from Afghanistan, Pakistani nationals may also be involved and the possibility of the funds being used for terrorist activities cannot be ruled out.
Delhi Police Special Cell CP Neeraj Thakur said the operation had been going on for months. An Afghan national was also arrested. An accused living in Kashmir was arrested from Delhi. Chemicals used to arrive from Anantnag in Kashmir to polish drugs. Both the accused from Punjab were supplying these drugs all over Punjab.
Earlier in May, Delhi Police had also nabbed two Afghan nationals with 15 kilograms of heroin. More Afghans and Pakistanis are likely to be involved in the racket. Police are conducting further investigations. There is no denying the possibility that the strings of this international racket of drugs could reach Europe-Africa in addition to Afghanistan-Pakistan.
