The case was filed following a lower court order

FIR lodged against Jwalapur MLA Suresh Rathore at Haridwar police station

Dehradun: BJP's Jawalapur MLA Suresh Rathore has been charged with rape in Uttarakhand, police said in a statement. A rape case has been registered against the MLA at the Bahadurabad police station in Haridwar following a lower court order.

Rathro is the second BJP MLA in Uttarakhand after Mahesh Negi to face serious charges of rape. The woman said in her complaint that she met Rathore two and a half years ago. At the time, Rathore had asked the woman to join the BJP's Mahila Morcha.

The woman, a former Mandal minister of Jawalapur, said that in the past the MLA had used her political clout to arrest me. In this regard, Uttarakhand BJP's media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the Haridwar district unit had rejected the woman's complaint only two months ago. The woman was caught plotting against the MLA.

Negi was also charged with rape last year. The woman alleged that my daughter's father is Negi. The case is currently under investigation. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Congress vice-president Suryakant Dhasmana said this was not the first time that such serious allegations had been leveled against any BJP leader in the state.
