4% of parents in the country do not want to send their children to school without vaccination

An estimated 4% of parents across the country do not want to send their children to school without vaccination against corona, according to a new survey. The survey covers 3,000 parents in 21 districts of the country.

Eighty per cent of the parents who took part in the survey wanted to be sent to school only if the number of corona cases in their district dropped to zero. Six per cent of parents surveyed said they were not ready to send their children to school until they were vaccinated. According to a survey conducted by local platform Local Circles, 61 per cent parents said they are ready to send their children whenever the school opens.

Approximately 3% of parents in the survey were from tier-1 districts while 3% of parents from tier-2 districts and 5% of parents from tier-2, 3 and rural districts participated in the survey. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandvia said on Tuesday that vaccinations for children are likely to be launched soon.

Schools have been closed since the nationwide lockdown in March last year due to the Corona epidemic across the country. Some states partially reopened schools in October last year, but schools were closed again during the second wave of the Corona epidemic, with an extraordinary surge in cases. Currently, schools have been partially reopened this month in states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh have announced to open schools in the first week of August.
