Why did Chief Secretary become Mamata's advisor after retirement?

New Delhi, May 21, 2021, Monday

West Bengal politics remains hot due to the rift between the central government and Mamata. The clashes have been going on for several weeks before the Assembly elections, which have continued even after the results of the Assembly elections. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was not present at the meeting when Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Bengal to inspect the loss of life and property caused by the Yase storm. After waiting for 30 minutes, he left with the required documents. Alpan Bandopadhyay, a 12-batch IAS officer of the West Bengal cadre, was retiring on May 31 after his age limit expired.

The central government had called the chief secretary to Delhi with an extension of six months, but Mamata's confidant chief secretary refused the extension and replaced her as Mamata's adviser. Mamata had asked the government to release Chief Secretary Alpan Bandopadhyay from duty four days ago and send him to the Center. He was to report to the Central Government by 10 am on May 31. Mamata Banerjee said in the letter that the West Bengal government could not send its chief secretary on duty in a difficult situation.

Not only that, Mamata was urged to reconsider the issue and rescind the order for the Chief Secretary. Mamata Banerjee also made political statements on the issue of not changing a secretary from the state to the center. What is Bandopadhyay's fault to him? As Chief Secretary, it is his duty to help me. For me (the center) there can be many complaints. I have also accepted that I am insulted in different ways but why is he (Bandopadhyay) being harassed? Politics was heated by such statements of Mamata.
