Volkan Bozkir, chairman of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which has targeted India in favor of Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir issue, has made it clear. India reacted sharply to Volkan Bojkir's statement advising Pakistan to raise the Kashmir issue strongly at the United Nations. Then came the clarification from the UN. A United Nations spokesman said it was "regrettable" that Volkan Bozkir's statement was "out of context".

In fact, in India, UN General Assembly Speaker Volkan Bojkir's statement on Jammu and Kashmir was considered by India to be misleading and biased. A few days later, a spokesman clarified the president of the 193-member body of the United Nations.

Vulcan Bozkir traveled to Bangladesh and Pakistan late last month. In a press conference with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Islamabad, he called for raising the Kashmir issue vigorously. He said Pakistan should raise the issue of Jammu and Kashmir strongly at the UN forum as it is Pakistan's responsibility. He compared the Kashmir issue to Palestine and said that compared to the Palestine issue, there was a lack of great political will to resolve the Kashmir dispute.
