Twitter removes false map of India, shows Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as separate countries

New Delhi, 28 June 2021 Friday

Microblogging site Twitter has removed a false map showing Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as separate from India. However, no statement has come out from Twitter regarding the removal of the map.

Indeed, there is a world map in the Twitter Life section on Twitter's career page. From here the company shows that there is a team of Twitter around the world. India is also in this map, but the map of India was shown to be controversial.

This is not the first time that a map of India has been misrepresented by Twitter. Even before this, Ladakh was not shown as part of India. However, it was later revised.

There is already an atmosphere of tension between Twitter and the central government. The government has openly protested on Twitter. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said there was a double standard towards India on Twitter. Twitter's intentions don't look good.
