Supreme Court orders removal of pressure on forest land in Haryana

The Supreme Court has directed the Haryana and Faridabad Municipal Corporations to remove all encroachments, including 10,000 residential constructions on forest land near a village. The apex court further said that land grabbers could not speak of impartiality with the help of law.

A vacation bench comprising Justice A M Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari has sought a report from state officials within six weeks on the removal of all pressure on forest people near Lakarpur Khori village in Faridabad district.

The bench further said that in our view, the petitioner is bound by the directions given by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court dated February 18, 2020 and April 4, 2021. The State Government should consider the application for rehabilitation independently.

"We reiterate the orders given to the Faridabad Municipal Corporation and the Haryana government and hope that the municipal corporation will remove all the encroachments and submit a progress report within six weeks," the bench said while hearing the plea of ​​five accused.

During the video conference hearing, the apex court also directed the Faridabad police to assist the Faridabad Municipal Corporation in removing the encroachment.
