RDX may have been used in the blast at the Air Force airport in Jammu

New Delhi: Preliminary analysis of the material used by two drones used in the attack on an Indian Air Force station in Jammu has revealed indications that RDX may have been used in cocktails of the chemicals used in it. Investigators have not yet been able to establish the route of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

The IAF station at Jammu airport is currently throbbing. His visiting team also includes the National Investigation Agency. Officials said the cocktail of explosives thrown by the drones may have been made of RDX, but a final clarification is awaited.

They said the National Security Guard's Blast Analysis Team has been sent to the Air Force base to study the material. The team will submit the findings of the investigation to the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the NIA.

This is the first time that Pakistan-based militants have carried out a drone attack, in which two bombs were hurled at an air force airport in Jammu on Sunday morning. Two Air Force personnel sustained minor injuries. The first blast occurred at 1.40 am and the second six minutes later.

The first blast blew off the roof of a one-story building in the technical area of the air force airport in the Satwari area outside the city. The second blast occurred on the ground. An investigation is under way, but teams have not yet been able to determine which route the drones took.

Senior officials from various investigative agencies and the army, police and other security agencies visited the air force station, while army quick reaction teams were patrolling at regular intervals outside the base.

Jammu and Kashmir Director General Dilbag Singh termed the attack as a terrorist act and said police and other agencies were working with Air Force personnel to find the culprit.

Investigators have scanned CCTV footage, including cameras installed at the airport's boundary walls, to determine where the drones came from. However all the CCTV cameras are focused on the road side, officials said.
