Inflation allowance may be increased in July salary but arrears will have to wait: sources

New Delhi: There is good news for central government employees. The central government is likely to increase inflation from July. However, it may take longer for the employees to get the arrears of the last one and a half years, the sources said.

According to sources, the central government may increase the inflation allowance for its employees from July 1, 2021. However, arrears will not be paid to them in July.

According to sources, the government may list the cost index and expenditure on June 30 and then fix the rate of inflation. According to an estimate, employees are likely to get a 29 per cent inflation allowance from July. It may be mentioned that at present the central government employees are being paid inflation allowance at the rate of 27 per cent.

It may be mentioned that the inflation allowance of government employees is increased twice a year in January and July. However, the government has not increased inflation in January, 2020, July, 2020 and January, 2021 in the wake of the Corona epidemic. This means that government employees are currently being paid an inflation allowance at the rate of 17 per cent fixed in July, 2019.
