Owaisi goes on to announce PM Modi's free vaccine for all, 'This is the result of Supreme Court intervention'

New Delhi, Monday 7 June 2021

Addressing the nation on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement on vaccination. He said that the responsibility for vaccination would now rest entirely with the Central Government and from June 21, the Government of India would provide free vaccines to all the states. His announcement has provoked mixed reactions from leaders of various parties. Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi, head of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), termed it as a result of Supreme Court intervention.

'This change is the result of Supreme Court intervention'

The Hyderabad MP said in a series of tweets that the 25 per cent quota of private hospitals would continue for the convenience of the rich, while the poor would have to wait for the availability of vaccines. In his tweet, he said, "Thanks to the Prime Minister for one more unnecessary speech, this information could also have been given through a press release." The change in vaccine policy appears to be the result of a Supreme Court order. However, the states were blamed for the terrible vaccine policy. Modi failed to ensure supply of vaccines.
