Monsoon countdown begins in Kerala, rain forecast in 24 hours

The meteorological department has forecast a slight chill for the countrymen who are facing severe heat.

According to the meteorological department, southwest monsoon is expected in Kerala from June 3. Although the monsoon is arriving late in June, satellite imagery shows that the coast of Kerala and the adjoining Arabian Sea are overcast. Rain is likely to arrive in Kerala in the next 24 hours. Because more favorable conditions are being created for rain. Rains usually arrive in Kerala on June 1.

The meteorological department had earlier forecast rains on May 31 or four days earlier. On May 30, the meteorological department, however, said that the conditions were not right for the arrival of rains in Kerala. At the same time, the meteorological department has forecast above average rainfall in North and South India, above average in Central India and below average in East and Northeast India. In sum the monsoon will be average for the country.

June and September are forecast to receive 96 to 104 per cent of the average rainfall.
