Liquor can be ordered at home in Delhi, Kejriwal government approves home delivery

- No delivery to any hostel, office or institution

New delhi date. May 1, 2021, Tuesday

Now home delivery of liquor has also started in Delhi. The Delhi government has allowed home delivery of liquor through a mobile app or online web portal. Earlier, the Chhattisgarh government had started home delivery of liquor. The government's rationale behind the decision is that it will not crowd out liquor stores in the Corona era.

As per Delhi Excise (Research) Rules 2021, L-13 license holders will be allowed to deliver liquor to people's homes. Licensees will only deliver liquor at home upon receipt of an order through a mobile app or online web portal and no delivery will be made to any hostel, office or institution, the notification said.

Home delivery used to be by e-mail, fax

Although home delivery of liquor was earlier offered, the licensees could deliver the liquor only after receiving the order by e-mail or fax. Home delivery of liquor will now be available on order through mobile app or online portal. This does not mean that all liquor stores will be authorized to provide immediate home delivery.

State for Home Delivery of Liquor: SC

Just last year, the Supreme Court commented that states should consider home delivery of liquor because of the crowds outside liquor stores that came up against several images of violations of Corona guidelines. After the second wave of Corona, liquor shops in Delhi were closed again.

Shops closed, home delivery on

As soon as the Corona case subsides, the Delhi government has gradually started the unlock process. But the decision to open liquor stores has not been taken yet. In the midst of all this, the government has allowed home delivery to cover the revenue loss caused by the closure of liquor shops.
