LONDON: Britain's 5,565 new Delta variant cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, prompting plans to lift the proposed ban from June 21. A spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said no decision had been made on whether to lift the ban.

On the other hand, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health in Pakistan, Imran Khan, said that there was a risk of a third wave of Corona epidemic in the country due to non-compliance with Corona guidelines. The total number of corona cases in Sri Lanka has also crossed two lakh and the travel ban has been extended till June 14. The Philippines also has an average of 7,000 corona cases a day. Canada, on the other hand, reported a total of 1,617 cases in the last 24 hours, a 31 per cent drop in new cases. Russia also reported an average of 9,000 corona cases a day.

Politicians in the US, meanwhile, have called for more aid to India. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the corona crisis in India is catastrophic and Bide should help India by sending more corona vaccines and medical aid. Republican Senator Ted Cruz also suggested that India should be given more vaccines.
