The security forces have had a huge success in Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday shot dead a drug smuggler near the international border in Kathua district. Heroin worth about Rs 135 crore was also seized from the man.

A BSF spokesperson said the incident took place at Pansar area of ​​BOP Hiranagar sector. BSF personnel spotted the smuggler trying to cross the border into Indian territory and warned him. However he did not believe and ran away from there so had to be shot. No identity of the dead smuggler has been identified yet.

A senior official said 27 kg of heroin was also recovered from him during the operation. The heroin is estimated to be worth Rs 135 crore in the international market.

On January 23, the BSF was informed about an underground tunnel of 150 meters, the spokesperson said. The tunnel was built to help infiltrate terrorists from Pakistan to carry out destructive activities in the BOP Pansar area.
