The pilots who reached the Delhi High Court against the dismissal order by Air India have got a huge relief. During a hearing on Tuesday, the Delhi High Court quashed Air India's decision to terminate the services of several pilots from August last year. It also directed to reinstate all the pilots whose services were terminated by Air India. Many of them were on contract.

The Delhi High Court has also asked the reinstated pilots of Air India to pay their salaries again. During the hearing on Tuesday, the High Court also said that the decision to extend the contracts of Air India contract pilots would be taken on the basis of their performance in the future. The court also said that a detailed decision in this regard would be announced on Wednesday.

The pilots had filed an application in the High Court challenging Air India's August 13 order dismissing them. Air India fired more than 40 pilots last year. Some of those pilots initially resigned but later withdrew their resignations.

The pilots argued in court that he withdrew his resignation before the deadline of six months had elapsed. An application was also made to Air India in this regard but no reply has been received so far. The petitioners argue that in these circumstances their resignation should be considered back and they should be directed to keep them on the job again.
