Ganges water level in Rishikesh and Haridwar above dangerous mark, situation worrying

The monsoon in Uttarakhand has been showing signs of drought since the beginning. Due to the torrential rains that have been going on for several hours, the rivers are overflowing. The Central Water Commission has warned that the river Ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Rishikesh and Haridwar. The water level of the Ganges is constantly rising due to rains. A warning has been issued for this reason. Along with the Ganges, the rivers Gori, Sharda, Alaknanda, Mandakini and Nandakini are also flowing above the danger mark. Many roads including Badrinath, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Almora Highway are closed.

Due to continuous rains in the mountains and plains, the water level of the river Ganga in Yoganagari has risen. The river Ganga started flowing above the dangerous mark. The water level of the Ganges was recorded at 340.50 meters till Saturday evening. Officials of the Central Water Commission said that the river Ganga was flowing above the warning level of 339.50 meters and the danger level above 340.50 meters.

All 15 gates of Pashulok Barrage have been opened due to silt and timber flowing into the river Ganga. However, production has stalled due to lack of water in the Chila Shakti Canal. Every situation is being monitored by UJVNL (Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam). Almost all the Ganga ghats of Parmarth Niketan Swargashram, Triveni and Laxman Zula have been submerged. Mayakund, Chandeshwar town has been flooded.

Heavy rains have disrupted normal life. The National Highway-58 (Rishikesh-Srinagar Highway) near Beasi in Tehri Garhwal has been closed due to landslides. Not only that, due to the landslide, vehicles were stuck near Ghat police station on Pithorag National Highway. At the same time, the Badrinath National Highway between Gulabkoti and Kaudia in Chamoli district has been closed. The Tanakpur-Pithorgarh highway has also been closed due to garbage coming near Swanla-Dhaun.
