Funds to parties: BJP to get Rs. 785 crore, which is five times more than the Congress

The BJP, which is in power at the Center, has received a total of Rs 785 crore from personal donations, corporate houses and electoral trusts during 2019-20, five times more than the Congress.

The BJP has received the most funding from its leaders Pius Goyal, Pema Khandu, Kiran Kher, and Raman Singh, while it has also received funding from major corporate houses like ITC, Kalyan Jewelers, Rare Enterprise, Ambuja Cement, Lodha Developers, and Motilal Oswal. The New Democratic Electoral Trust, Prudential Electoral Trust, Jal Kalyan Electoral Trust, Triumph Electoral have also donated to the BJP.

However, according to the information provided by the Congress party in this regard, it has received a total fund of Rs 139 crore. Apart from this, if we talk about other political parties, the ruling party in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has received a donation of Rs 8 crore. The CPI (Communist Party of India) has received Rs 1.3 crore and the CPI (M) Rs 19.7 crore.

It is to be noted that this report only contains information about the people who have provided funds of more than Rs 20,000. Due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, the Election Commission has extended the last date for submission of annual audit report for the year 2019-20 to June 30.
