Five suspended MLAs from BSP met Akhilesh Yadav

Possibility to join SP

During the Rajya Sabha elections in October 2020, the BSP suspended five of its MLAs

Lucknow: The five MLAs suspended by the BSP last year met Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav today, sparking speculation that he would join the SP.

Uma Shankar Singh, deputy leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, termed the MLAs as garbage. Mungra Badshahpur MLA Sushma Patel told reporters that the meeting with Akhilesh Yadav lasted for 15 to 20 minutes.

The meeting discussed the upcoming assembly elections. Currently, the BSP has 18 MLAs in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly. "We were suspended during the Rajya Sabha elections in October, 2020 last year," Patel added.

The BSP did not issue any whip during the Rajya Sabha elections and we were not even involved in cross-voting. We were suspended without any support. Besides Sushma Patel, SP president Akhilesh Yadav also met Mohammad Aslam Riyani, Hakimlal Bind, Mujtaba Siddiqui and Hargovind Bhargava.
