Expired License, RC Book validity extended till 30th September

Ministry of Roads and Transport orders to make Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate uniform across the country

New Delhi: The validity of driving licenses and RC books has been extended to September 30, according to a new notification from the Ministry of Roads and Transport. This decision has been made in view of the Corona epidemic. Those whose validity expired on June 15 will get relief.

Those who had met the deadline to renew their driving license and RB book have been given more time. Validity for motor vehicle document has been extended to 30th September. The announcement was made in a notification from the Ministry of Roads and Transport.

This validity was extended in view of the Corona epidemic. Documents which had earlier expired on February 1 were given a waiver till June. In addition to the driving license, validity of RC book, fitness permission and other driving and vehicle related documents will now be valid till September 30.

The Union Ministry of Roads and Transport had issued a notification to all the States and Union Territories instructing them to implement it. Earlier, the Union Ministry of Roads and Transport had issued notifications on March 30, 2020, June 9, 2020, August 24, 2020, December 27, 2020 and March 26, 2021 to increase the expiry date of vehicle-driving documents.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Vehicles and Transport also directed all the States and Union Territories to bring uniformity in the Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. Now a uniform PUC certificate will be created in the country. All PUC certificates were also ordered to be attached to the National Register.

States and Union Territories will now have to keep the format of PUC certificate the same. A QR code will be printed in the PUC certificate, which will include the vehicle owner's name, mobile number, address, vehicle number, engine number and chassis number. Special note making facility will also be provided for special vehicle in PUC.
