ED claims Sachin Tendulkar recovered Rs 4.7 crore from bar owners and handed it over to Deshmukh's PA

Former Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, who was suspended from Mumbai police, told ED that he had collected Rs 4.7 crore in cash from Mumbai bar owners and handed over to his PA by former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, the ED claimed on Saturday, the agency also claimed. The former head of the Crime Intelligence Unit, Vaze, told the bar owners and management that the money would be handed over to the Crime Branch and Social Services Branch of Mumbai Police No. 1.

Waze told the agency that in several cases of police investigation, he was getting direct instructions from the then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The ED had made the allegations in a remand application in the Prevention of Money Laundering Special Act Court in Mumbai and sought custody of Deshmukh's aides, his personal secretary Sanjeev Palande (51) and PA Kundan Shinde (45). Arrested on Saturday, the court remanded him in ED custody until July 1.

The ED alleged that "Waze stated that he had collected about Rs 4.70 crore from several bar-owners between December 2020 and February 2021 and in January and February 2021, on the instructions of Anil Deshmukh, he handed over two installments to his PA Kundan Sambhaji Shinde."
