The relief given to the government by the reduction in the number of cases has coincided with the outbreak of the second wave of Corona in India. Corona cases are on the rise again in the country. Not only that, the Delta Plus variant of the Corona has made inroads in Gujarat with two cases and the government has woken up successfully with 30 cases registered in 11 states. On the other hand, for the second day in a row, more than 50,000 cases of corona have been reported in the country. In addition, one patient each has died in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra from the Delta Plus variant in the country. Experts suspect that a third wave is starting in the country with the increase in Corona cases with Delta Plus.

The Center on Friday said that out of 3,000 samples of Corona in the country so far, seven cases of Delta Plus variant of Corona virus have been detected, with Maharashtra having the highest number of 30 cases. Besides, nine cases have been reported in Tamil Nadu, seven in Madhya Pradesh, three in Kerala, two each in Punjab and Gujarat, and one each in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir. One patient died in Madhya Pradesh due to Delta Plus variant. Now a 70-year-old man has died in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. The Sangameshwar resident was admitted to Mumbai a few days ago. However, doctors could not save him.

The central government has said that 90 per cent of Corona cases in India are in the B1.213.5 (Delta) variant. The director of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) involved in genome sequencing of corona viruses in the country, Dr. Sujit Singh said that more than 80 per cent cases have been received in eight states. "The number of cases of delta plus mutation in India is very limited," Singh said. In the last three months, 30 cases have been reported in 17 districts. No additional trend has been seen in the case of Delta Plus variant in any district. The Delta Plus variant shows an additional mutation with the Delta variant, B.1.215.4.1.

Cases of the Delta variant of the Corona have been found in 14 districts in six states and territories, with Maharashtra having the highest number, followed by Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal and Gujarat. The government added that the proportion of corona delta cases in the country has increased from 10.31 per cent in May 2021 to 21 per cent by June 30. However, the government insisted that both vaccines, Covishield and Covacin, which are currently being administered in the country under the vaccination campaign, are effective against corona variants such as alpha, beta, gamma and delta. Tests are ongoing on how effective both Corona vaccines are on the Delta Plus variant. We are waiting for the laboratory results, which will come in 8 to 10 days. The second wave of Corona in the country is not over yet. Corona cases are still more than 10 per cent in 6 districts and between 8 and 10 per cent in 6 districts.

Meanwhile, for the second day in a row in India, the daily cases of corona exceeded 20,000. On Friday, 21.8 cases of corona were reported. With this, the total number of cases crossed 3.01 crore while the weekly positivity rate fell to 9 per cent. The death toll from Corona on Friday crossed 1.2 lakh with 1.8 deaths. Corona's active cases fell further to 2.18 lakh, which is 3.09 per cent of the total cases. The number of active cases has come down by 18.15 in one day.

For the ninth day in a row, the number of patients recovering from corona is higher than the daily number of cases in the country. The country's national recovery rate has come down to 7.5 per cent while the weekly case positivity rate has come down to 9 per cent. The daily positivity rate was 2.7 per cent. It is less than 5% for 15 consecutive days. In India, 20.5 lakh doses of corona vaccine are given in a day. In addition, 206 million doses have been given so far as part of nationwide vaccinations.

Delta cases in Surat and Vadodara

AHMEDABAD: While the speed of Corona has slowed down, Delta Plus has entered Gujarat. Gujaratis are worried about the arrival of another new Corona virus. The Central Health Department has said that there are two cases of Delta Plus variant in Gujarat. The state health department has officially said that there are more Delta Plus variants in Gujarat than the genome sequences of corona positive cases.

A 27-year-old man was infected with corona in Surat in April and samples were sent to the Pune-based National Institute of Virology, the health department said. The Genome Sequence report found that Delta Plus variants were found in this patient. However, at present the patient's health is stable and there are no symptoms.

Also in Vadodara is a 38-year-old woman who was hit by a corona in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. Their samples were also sent to the Pune lab. The female patient was also found to be infected with the Delta Plus variant when the genome sequence was reported. The female patient returned to Gujarat in May. Currently the patient has no problem. The state health department has been running following the Delta Plus variant. The health department has also started surveillance operations in Surat and Vadodara.
