According to experts, the Delta Plus variant could be a major factor in the third wave. A study on the possibility of a third wave of Covid-19 in India has been published by ICMR.

The study said that if a third wave of corona occurs in India, it will not be as severe as the second wave. However an increase in vaccination efforts could play a significant role in reducing any future wave other than coronary heart disease.

Talking about the possibility of a third wave, the study said that immunity capacity could decline over time due to transition-dependent immunity. Under these circumstances, people who have already reached the point of transition may be re-infected.

According to a recent ICMR study, pregnant women were more severely affected during the second wave of Covid-19 in India than ever before. Mortality and the number of infected cases have risen sharply this year.
