BSP to contest UP-Uttarakhand elections alone: Mayawati

Owaisi's alliance with AIMIM was scrapped and rejected

Lucknow: In the forthcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the Bahujan Samaj Party will swing alone. In a series of tweets, party president Mayawati made it clear that she would not form any alliance with the BSP or AIIM in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections next year.

A news channel has been circulating news since yesterday that BSP (Asaduddin) Owaisi's party will contest the next UP assembly elections along with AIMIM. This news is totally false, misleading and untrue. There is no truth in this. The BSP aggressively denies the news, Mayawati said.

The BSP has recently formed an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab. Party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Satish Chandra Mishra has been made the national coordinator of the BSP's media cell. Mayawati has appealed to the media to ask Mishra or herself before publishing any news related to the BSP. Mayawati, 65, has been the Chief Minister of UP four times.
